House Supervisor

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled House Supervisor to direct and coordinate nursing administrative services on weekends, holidays, and/or shift. The ideal candidate will promote clinical nursing management and interdisciplinary care delivery, while ensuring patient satisfaction and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage human and material resources efficiently and prioritize needs.
• Analyze staffing levels and adjust nursing staff resources based on patient volume variability, acuity, staff competency, and available support staff.
• Coordinate bed control in collaboration with nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, and/or designee for timely patient movement and placement throughout the facility, nursing units, and transfers to other facilities.
• Obtain necessary supplies and equipment as needed.
• Monitor specialty equipment utilization for appropriateness of use, discontinuation, and accurate charging processes.
• Supervise nursing staff on the delivery of nursing services to patients in respective divisions on designated shift.
• Act as a clinical resource person in the delivery of patient care during designated shifts. Provide support and direction to staff, oversee new orientees, and resource needed related to equipment, staff, and pharmacy-related issues.
• Participate and evaluate nursing performance and communicate findings to nursing administration/nurse managers.
• Collaborate and analyze staff levels in relation to patient acuity and intervene accordingly.
• Coordinate/initiate the on-call system for surgical cases on weekends and holidays.
• Responsible for administrative functions on shift/weekends, confer with administrator-on-call as needed.
• Communicate with appropriate resource persons, department supervisors, as indicated, to ensure continuous operations.
• Perform delegated duties of other departments when departments are closed; i.e., Central Supply Medical Records and Pharmacy on designated shift.
• Communicate appropriately to the medical examiner and Organ Sharing Network on all patient deaths.
• Respond effectively to all emergencies/codes, take appropriate action, follow-up, and documentation.
• Demonstrate leadership in decision-making and problem-solving processes, address patient, family, and nursing concerns in an effective manner.
• Pride in Caring concerns, service recovery, and physician-related issues are resolved on shift and, if needed, referred to nursing administration for follow-up.
• Maintain professional communication and foster positive interpersonal relationships with staff, physicians, visitors, and students/faculty.
• Participate in performance and quality improvement activities to ensure compliance and positive quality/safe patient care outcomes.
• Responsible for monitoring functions, complete and forward data reports as assigned (i.e., Code Blue Critique form, CHF Discharge instruction sheet, Incident/Accident Report).
• Provide care of patient valuables after business hours. Ensure patient valuables are placed in drop-in safe and recorded in Valuables Log (Admitting).

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
