We are seeking an experienced Intake Specialist to join our team in Washington, DC. As an Intake Specialist, you will be responsible for receiving case referrals and performing intake and placement for eligible program participants.

Responsibilities
  • Answer emergency hot-line calls and respond to resource inbox
  • Receive and analyze complex requests regarding vulnerable populations
  • Determine type of action based on demographic information and circumstances of each case
  • Makes initial determination/assessment on placement and informs appropriate agency
  • Documents and refers to appropriate person(s)
  • Maintains confidential files and other related records of cases
  • Prepares shift report on any significant issues, transitions to and briefs next shift staffer on outstanding cases
  • Coordinates and provides status updates on placements for life cycle of case intake process
  • Responsible for input and verification of data for each case
  • Reviews source documents for accuracy of input data using quality assurance system
  • May be responsible for integrity of certain database information
  • Investigates questionable data and takes corrective action when necessary
  • Performs other administrative duties as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related discipline preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience with BA/BS degree; 4 years of experience with AA/AS degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and expert user of MS Excel
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and underserved populations
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
Additional Requirements
  • Requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Requires Public Trust or ability to obtain one
