Position: Project Manager, SCADA Engineering

Location: Chelsea, MA

The MWRA is in search of a dedicated Project Manager for SCADA Engineering to oversee and engage in the design, development, operation, and technical support of the Authority's Water and Wastewater Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of control logic for programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Overseeing the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
  • Managing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SCADA networks and PCs.
  • Ensuring that all work on new and modified monitoring and control systems includes comprehensive project scope preparation and P&ID drawings.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with SCADA standards by both in-house staff and consultants.
  • Monitoring the SCADA programming, testing, and startup activities conducted by consultants and integrators.
  • Coordinating testing, startup, and training requirements related to monitoring and control systems.
  • Installing, maintaining, and monitoring SCADA security systems.
  • Creating and maintaining up-to-date records and documentation on SCADA network, PC, and PLC installations.
  • Managing SCADA tag databases and coordinating necessary changes.
  • Ensuring SCADA data is backed up on local nodes and the network archive system.

This role requires a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with five to seven years of experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of process control systems, with at least two years in the water/wastewater or comparable industry. Candidates should also have two to four years of experience with ladder logic and HMI programming (preferably with Allen Bradley PLC and GE Proficy iFIX Software) and supervisory experience. A valid Massachusetts Driver's License, FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License, or the ability to obtain one within six months is required. Additionally, candidates should possess or be able to obtain a valid Massachusetts Grade II Water Distribution or Treatment License, Grade II Wastewater Collection System Certification, or Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Certification within six months. Certification in Confined Space Entry or the ability to pass MWRA Confined Space Training within six months is also necessary.

This position is designated as essential in situations where the MWRA Executive Director requires essential personnel to report to work.

Salary: $88,012.08 to $123,057.48 Annually.
