Position Overview:

Job Title: Core Engine Calibration Engineer

Type: Full-Time permanent role with Capgemini.

Location: Chelsea, Michigan

Role Summary:

We are seeking enthusiastic Engineers responsible for the Calibration and Validation of Core Engine functionalities, supporting BSG, PHEV, and ICE variants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the commissioning of test facilities (Dynamometers) at client locations and collaborate with logistics and test technology teams to ensure operational efficiency KPIs are achieved.
  • Develop and implement test plans in line with calibration protocols.
  • Analyze test data to support thorough calibration development in accordance with Calibration Maturity milestones.
  • Work closely with Calibration and Propulsion System teams, participating in calibration development trips.
  • Design, execute, and modify test plans with suppliers and stakeholders to address engineering challenges while ensuring Functional Objectives are met.
  • Assist in ECM SW Validation efforts on HIL, engine dynamometer, and vehicle platforms. Manage tracking, escalation, and resolution of identified software issues.
  • Monitor and report on calibration maturity progress and risk mitigation strategies among various stakeholders.
  • Document Lessons Learned, Calibration Process Enhancements, and the Development of New Calibration Methodologies in collaboration with Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of Internal Combustion Engine fundamentals, Core Engine Calibration, and Controls Algorithm validation.
  • Familiarity with Air-flow Estimation, Emissions Calibration, Torque Estimation, Thermal Model Calibration, and Engine Rating related to core engine calibration.
  • Experience managing engine dynamometers or similar testing facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Powertrain Systems Engineering, including Engine Hardware, Controls/SW, and Calibration development.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting engine dynamometer and test cell instrumentation.
  • Experience in drivability and emissions calibration, as well as hybrid powertrain calibration.
  • Familiarity with INCA/AVL CRETA or similar calibration management tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced data processing tools such as MATLAB Simulink.
  • Understanding of Controls, Software development, and HIL validation methodologies.
