ERM is seeking a Machinery Safety Training Specialist to collaborate with our technology client. The Machinery Safety Training Specialist will play a crucial role in educating personnel on the safe operation of tools and machinery within a research and development environment. This position is part-time, requiring 16 hours per week, and is a limited-term engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Emphasize the safe and correct use of machine tools across various materials including wood, metal, plastics, and 3D printing technologies.
  • Guide employees on the proper methods for part layout and the effective use of hand tools.
  • Instruct on the setup and operation of manual lathes, detailing tools, tool holding devices, and work holding techniques.
  • Teach the setup and operation of manual milling machines, including necessary tools and work holding methods.
  • Provide training on the setup and operation of surface grinders.
  • Curriculum Development:
  • Create and revise educational materials such as lesson plans, manuals, and instructional handouts.
  • Design practical exercises and projects that integrate theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.
  • Instruction and Training:
  • Deliver training on the safe and effective use of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machinery.
  • Demonstrate operational techniques, focusing on precision, efficiency, and safety.
  • Offer personalized instruction to ensure understanding and skill acquisition among employees.
  • Safety Management:
  • Establish and uphold rigorous safety protocols and procedures within the machine shop.
  • Conduct ongoing safety training sessions, ensuring all employees are well-versed in emergency procedures.
  • Regularly inspect machinery and equipment to confirm they are in safe operational condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a safety training environment; experience as a CTE-credentialed educator in machinery, automotive, woodworking, or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience in a professional research and development setting is beneficial.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in operating various machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Familiarity with machining techniques, blueprint interpretation, and precision measurement tools.
  • Safety Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive understanding of machine shop safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Capability to conduct safety training and enforce safety standards.

Compensation:

The anticipated annual base pay for the Machinery Safety Training Specialist position ranges from $78,475 to $86,827, with an hourly rate of $37.72 to $41.74. Compensation will be determined based on various factors including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and life & disability insurance for eligible employees.
