Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at Stanford University. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of immunology and metabolic regulation of immune cells.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, or a related field, with experience in developing and conducting gene expression experiments using multiplexed TaqMan Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR). They will also be skilled in flow cytometry, including operating instruments such as the Accuri Analyzer or LSR2 Analyzer, BD Aria sorter, FACSAria2 sorter, or BD Symphony. Additionally, they should have experience working with fresh human specimens and isolating specific immune cell types from human blood.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and conduct gene expression experiments using qPCR
  • Analyze study data and iterate as needed to effectively test research hypotheses
  • Work independently but collaboratively as part of a team
  • Teach and manage junior staff to keep projects on track toward successful completion
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field and four years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree in a related scientific field and two years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a related science field
  • Expert-level knowledge and skills in immunology, molecular biology, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
Working Conditions

This position requires working in close proximity to blood-borne pathogens, as well as being in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases may be present. You will be required to use personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing and gloves, and possibly a respirator.

Salary Information

The expected salary range for this position is $81,000 to $106,000 per annum. Base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package offered by Stanford University.
