Position Overview

The Hampton University School of Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated professional who is passionate about academic excellence and committed to fostering an innovative educational framework. This role involves establishing a clinical pharmacy practice focused on experiential training and patient care, engaging in scholarly activities related to clinical and educational initiatives, participating in various College/University/Professional committees, and supporting the University’s dedication to diversity.


Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an accredited pharmacy institution, along with postgraduate training and clinical experience in psychiatry, complemented by a history of didactic and experiential teaching.

Candidates should be licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia and exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as clinical and teaching competencies.


Examples of Duties
Teaching:
  • Develop and implement a clinical pharmacy practice for the experiential training of PharmD students in Psychiatry.
  • Oversee and coordinate courses within the PharmD curriculum.
  • Deliver instruction in additional pharmacy courses as assigned, utilizing platforms such as Blackboard and ExamSoft for instructional material dissemination.

Scholarly Activities:
  • Create and present innovative educational content related to psychiatric pharmacy.
  • Enhance course materials for improved educational delivery.
  • Publish at least one peer-reviewed article or engage in a comparable scholarly activity annually.

Service:
  • Participate in College/University/Professional committees.
  • Contribute to the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the role of a faculty member at Hampton University.

Typical Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program with a Pharm.D. degree.

  • Must obtain licensure to practice pharmacy from the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
  • Completion of a PGY-2 Psychiatry residency or a minimum of two years of experience in a Behavioral Health Center, along with Board Certification as a Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a PGY-2 Psychiatry residency.
  • At least two years of experience in a Behavioral Health Unit.
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP).
  • Experience in both Didactic and Experiential Education.
