Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Improvement Coordinator to join our team at the University of Virginia. This role will be responsible for identifying gaps in best practice implementation and outcomes for various demographic subgroups of our patient populations and leading quality improvement initiatives to close these gaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective project management and leadership to ensure completion of quality improvement projects and programs to meet goals and strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate training and education of quality and patient safety initiatives for Children's Hospital staff and affiliated team members.
  • Support data collection, chart abstraction, and support for various registries, projects, and benchmarking organizations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison between UVA Children's clinical and administrative teams and external registries, benchmarking organizations, and peers at other children's hospitals.
  • Clinical expertise: demonstrate clinical expertise in specific patient population(s) related to projects managed.
  • Technical execution: demonstrate technical execution in collection, verification, and analysis of data. Knowledgeable in basic quality improvement and project management methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.
  • Leadership & Training/Development: provide leadership and training/development to project team members.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to translate clinical and analytic information to varied audiences for actionable response.
  • Professionalism: well-organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously. Forward-thinking, personally motivated, and strong attention to detail.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program of clinical specialty; i.e. RN Radiography Pharmacy Social Work or Therapy Services. RN preferred.
  • 3 years of clinical quality or regulatory experience required; clinical quality or regulatory experience in transplant services preferred.
  • Must hold current License of Specialty area. RN license preferred.
Physical Demands

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods; repetitive motion: (computer work). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
