Key Responsibilities

Meritage Homes' Phoenix division is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Assistant Project Manager in Construction, ideal for those looking to elevate their career in the construction industry.

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing, scheduling, and inspecting all trades and stages of residential construction activities under the guidance of the Construction Manager.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety protocols, job site cleanliness, quality standards, and scope of work requirements among subcontractors and their teams.
  • Conducting daily walkthroughs of each home to monitor construction progress and verify material deliveries, while addressing any concerns with the Construction Manager.
  • Coordinating and accompanying city, utility, and third-party inspections as needed.
  • Facilitating pre and post-closing orientations and interactions with homeowners, including assessing, scheduling, and supervising warranty repairs.
  • Preparing punch lists at various construction phases, managing subcontractors to complete outstanding tasks, and overseeing final preparations and detailing prior to project completion.
  • Collaborating with the Construction Manager, Area Construction Manager, Customer Care (Warranty) Department, and Sales Associates to optimize subcontractor performance, maintain strong relationships with city officials, adhere to schedules, ensure customer satisfaction, and deliver high-quality homes.
Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory; coursework in Construction Management is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in residential construction or customer service, with some supervisory or project oversight experience preferred.
  • A solid understanding of home construction processes, work sequencing, scheduling, and building regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans, as well as scopes of work and community features.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Hyphen (BuildPro) is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with a focus on prioritizing tasks and fostering teamwork and customer satisfaction.
