McShane Construction Company is on the lookout for a Quality Manager I to support project teams in executing the Quality Management program. This individual will champion Quality Assurance/Quality Control Best Practice standards for both office and field operations through the execution of the responsibilities outlined below.

Key Responsibilities:

Document Review and Coordination
  • Conduct thorough document coordination and constructability assessments on all projects from the initial Design Development phase through to the Issue for Construction stage. Ensure the completeness of presented information. Compile a list of critical or sensitive items for the project team to acknowledge and summarize in a concise report along with marked-up plans.
  • Assist in coordinating Design Build trades on design assist projects.
  • Support project teams in preparing and issuing Requests for Information (RFIs). Formulate practical recommendations that align with the design intent for consideration and approval by the design professional of record.
  • Aid project teams in identifying and gathering necessary submittals. Assist in reviewing shop drawings and other submissions as needed.
  • Support project teams in planning field-constructed Mock-ups to resolve constructability and layout challenges, including at off-site product vendors.
  • Assist project teams in identifying High-Risk activities for focused planning.
Field Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • Engage in subcontractor pre-construction meetings with the project team to review Quality Control requirements, including third-party testing, inspections, quality standards, mock-ups, material verification upon delivery, initial quality inspections, and other QC activities.
  • Conduct monthly Quality Control site inspections at each active project and generate a report for each.
  • Participate in project milestone review meetings as required.
  • Take part in mock-up installations/reviews and document these processes.
  • Engage in third-party testing/inspections on building materials and systems.
  • Assist project teams in project closeout and manage warranty concerns.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as an in-house consultant to address construction-related issues that arise during a project.
  • Act as an in-house consultant to research and provide guidance on Building Code and industry Standards as they pertain to issues that arise during a project. Maintain a contact list of consultants and industry trade representatives/experts.
  • Develop educational resources for internal stakeholders.
  • Create training documents and presentations as requested.
  • Establish and maintain a resource library in the corporate office.
  • Continue the development of the Quality Manual.
  • Promote the utilization of QA resources, including the Quality Manual.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture (preferred), Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience; QA/QC experience with an architecture firm is preferred.
  • Construction background with the ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
  • Experience in reviewing construction and shop drawings.
  • Familiarity with Building Codes and construction industry Standards.
  • Basic understanding of civil design and concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural design, including life-safety concepts, energy-efficient design, weather shedding, drainage, and detailing.
  • Basic understanding of structural systems and design concepts.
  • Basic understanding of MEP-FP systems and design concepts.
  • Basic understanding of Geotechnical investigations and material testing procedures.
  • Basic understanding of construction activity organization, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Basic understanding of LEED design and concepts.
  • Ability to create and prepare sketches.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Plan Grid and MS Office Suite.
