Role Summary

The Paint Application Optimization Engineer will play a crucial role in the successful launch of new model paint and automation equipment. This position is essential for ensuring a top-tier robotic paint application process. The engineer will be tasked with identifying the root causes of paint defects, developing solutions, and implementing corrective measures. Additionally, this role involves troubleshooting paint automation equipment and providing technical support to resolve mechanical and electrical issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the launch of new model paint and automation equipment.
  • Ensure the achievement of best-in-class robotic paint processes during launches.
  • Identify and classify paint defects, implementing effective solutions.
  • Provide technical support for paint automation equipment, addressing functionality issues.
  • Collaborate with robotic OEM programmers to enhance efficiencies in paint quality data analytics.
  • Offer technical assistance during equipment shutdowns, startups, or emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive top-coat paint application processes and paint automation equipment repair.
  • Experience in new model and automation equipment launches.
  • Expertise in corporate paint manufacturing engineering, ensuring launch deliverables are met.
  • Proficiency with ABB, Durr, and Fanuc paint robots, applicators, and pathing processes for at least 5 years.
  • Experience in applying paint quality metrics, including film thickness, appearance, and color.
  • Position requires in-office presence with flexible work-from-home options available.
