Job Overview

St. John the Evangelist Church 0213 is in search of a dedicated and passionate 4th Grade Teacher for our educational institution. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality instruction aligned with our school's mission and values, ensuring a nurturing and structured learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

Curriculum Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans that adhere to the Archdiocese of Washington's Academic and Religious Standards.
  • Analyze standardized test results and other assessment tools to refine lesson plans and enhance instructional strategies.
  • Design lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.

Instructional Delivery:

  • Implement a well-rounded instructional approach that includes direct teaching, guided practice, and interactive learning experiences.
  • Facilitate both individual and group learning sessions through lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress and achievement of learning objectives.
  • Utilize assessment data to tailor instruction to meet the varied needs of students.
  • Assign homework and classwork that reinforces lesson objectives and supports the learning process.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish effective classroom procedures to maximize instructional time.
  • Create and uphold clear rules that foster a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Encourage high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
  • Ensure that interactions within the classroom reflect Catholic values.

Communication:

  • Maintain an organized grade book that accurately reflects student performance across various assessments.
  • Regularly update parents and administration on student progress and academic standing.
  • Provide clear communication regarding assignments and projects, including detailed instructions and deadlines.
  • Utilize various communication methods to inform parents of any academic or behavioral concerns.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences as necessary to discuss student progress.
  • Generate quarterly progress reports and report cards for students.

Catholic Identity:

  • Promote and uphold Catholic beliefs, traditions, and practices within the classroom.
  • Reflect the Church's teachings on social justice and community service.
  • Assist in organizing liturgical events and lead classroom prayers.
  • Teach religion classes that align with the Archdiocese's standards.

Additional Duties:

  • Fulfill non-instructional responsibilities such as supervising carpool, recess, and lunch.
  • Engage in extracurricular activities and school events as needed.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Obtain necessary certifications as mandated by local educational authorities.
