Patient Access Representative

About the Role
Sentara is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for positively identifying patients, collecting demographic and insurance information, and admitting patients in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
- Scan important documents, such as insurance cards and ID's, and verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record
- Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents, adhering to all applicable privacy and compliance standards
- Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, and perform transactions securely
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
