Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at the Solvay Mill. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the mill, while driving continuous improvement and excellence in all areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Leadership: Provide leadership to mill personnel to ensure a safe work environment, driving toward a 100% safe work environment by leading safety culture, systems, and processes.
  • Production Management: Effectively manage production performance, planning and controlling production to meet customer expectations.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Create an environment of teamwork, facilitating open communication and collaboration among mill personnel.
  • Quality and Operational Excellence: Troubleshoot quality and operational issues, developing systems and structures to avoid reoccurrences and drive continuous improvement.
  • Performance Management: Establish high-level performance goals and objectives, driving systematic improvement in mill operations and other mill processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Sheet Paper manufacturing leadership roles preferred.
  • Ability to direct continuous improvement in all areas, with special emphasis on safety, environmental, quality, production, and cost.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, MS Project, JD Edwards, Panther, etc.).
