About the Role

This is a hands-on position that requires strong analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills. As the Director of Financial Operations, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing contract and program budget preparation and modifications, contributing heavily to the RFP process
  • Monitoring program spending, approving purchase orders and invoices, and identifying variances
  • Comparing budgets to actual results, providing strong support to programs
  • Leading the annual budgeting process and reforecasting in a hands-on manner
  • Monitoring budget allocations, expense allocations, and related financial activities within specific funding sources
  • Collaborating with the Accounting Manager and Finance staff to ensure accuracy of payroll allocations and general ledger
  • Preparing periodic funder reports, including quarterly federal grant reporting and MWBE expenditures reporting
  • Monitoring grants and contract compliance, managing Grants Receivable and collections
  • Identifying and acting upon outstanding collectibles in coordination with finance staff
  • Leading the hiring, directing, and professional development of Budget Analysts
  • Ensuring strong internal controls in all financial matters
  • Coordinating meetings and preparing financial reports for presentation within Grants Management meetings and recurring meetings with programs
  • Developing and enhancing systems for contracts and grants administration, using technology to streamline operations
About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in budgeting and financial management of multiple government grants and contracts in a nonprofit setting. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A BA or BS with a major in accounting, finance, or another quantitative field, or supplemented by experience
  • Experience using Sage Intacct accounting software, with a strong understanding of not-for-profit accounting software
  • Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of the criminal justice field or human services, with a passion for social justice
