POSITION: SENIOR KITCHEN MANAGER

REPORTS TO: HEAD CHEF

FLSA: EXEMPT

TYPE: FULL TIME

ROLE SUMMARY: The Senior Kitchen Manager serves as the primary support to the Head Chef. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of all operational aspects of the kitchen and the ability to step in wherever needed during service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit a friendly, professional demeanor and maintain a polished appearance.
  • Ensure high standards and consistency in all kitchen operations.
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen personnel, including scheduling and conflict resolution.
  • Oversee kitchen staffing and communicate any personnel issues to Human Resources.
  • Lead by example, serving as a role model for kitchen staff in technique, conduct, and work ethic.
  • Instruct team members on proper cooking methods and execution.
  • Play a key role in menu development discussions.
  • Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and positive morale among all staff.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and local farmers.
  • Focus on reducing food costs through effective inventory management and waste reduction.
  • Assist in procuring all necessary kitchen supplies.
  • Proactively address facility maintenance needs.
  • Maintain strong communication with the entire leadership team and staff to ensure restaurant success.
  • Support colleagues in their duties when unexpected absences or increased volume occur.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the company’s mission, values, and philosophy.
  • Remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Complete other administrative tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Keep immediate supervisors informed of any significant issues or unusual occurrences.
  • Be prepared to manage allergens such as peanuts, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule as required by business needs.
  • Perform shift changes and/or opening or closing responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a kitchen environment.
  • ServSafe Certification is mandatory.
  • Ability to manage stress effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy workspace.
  • Capability to juggle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Physical Requirements:
  • Flexibility to adapt to job demands and complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to operate all necessary kitchen equipment.
  • Capacity to lift or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work varied hours as business needs dictate.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours daily.
