Job Overview

Position: Senior Technical Training Instructor

Reports to: Technical Training Manager

Summary: This role involves delivering comprehensive training programs for the organization's service personnel and clients. The instructor will create both classroom and self-paced training materials, while also supporting management in planning and scheduling training sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct instructor-led training sessions on advanced compressor and engine systems, including controls and electronics.
  • Facilitate training for diverse audiences, sometimes alongside subject matter experts.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the training schedule.
  • Identify training needs, research, and develop new training content, ensuring it remains current.
  • Design assessments to evaluate learner understanding.
  • Assess student performance and the overall effectiveness of training initiatives.
  • Provide technical insights during online discussions between subject matter experts and technicians.
  • Maintain close communication with supervisors to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Prepare training materials and ensure the training environment is ready prior to sessions.
  • Support the rollout of training certification programs.
  • Collaborate with field management to devise effective training strategies.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with various technical software and tools related to the field.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in Compression with extensive knowledge across various package types.
  • Thorough understanding of adult education principles and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Archrock's health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mobilization, package setup, emissions testing, and tuning processes.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a light truck for extended periods.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, including 2 years in emissions testing and tuning.
  • Preference for candidates with instrumentation and electrical experience.

Leadership Expectations:

  • Serve as a resource for knowledge transfer and training.
  • May occasionally lead a team of trainers or technicians.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the year.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and reach.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and using a computer.
  • Vision capabilities include close and distance vision, as well as color differentiation.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be necessary.

Problem Solving and Innovation:

This position requires the ability to identify and resolve problems effectively. The instructor will be expected to recommend solutions based on data analysis and previous experiences, while also suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency within the role.
