Position Overview
Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a motivated and skilled individual for the Production Support Specialist role within our Coatings Division. The ideal candidate will assist in preparing materials and products for the galvanizing process, including hanging components on spreader bars, organizing tubular items, and readying smaller parts for galvanizing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe handling and usage of production tools, fixtures, chains, and hooks.
- Attach small to medium-sized components to racks for pickling or galvanizing.
- Secure chains and ropes around steel bundles for proper racking.
- Manually transport lightweight steel pieces within the facility.
- Utilize air tools to enhance the quality of galvanized products by removing zinc debris.
- Employ air or electric tools for the preparation and cleanup of steel prior to galvanizing.
- Contribute to general housekeeping and maintenance of the plant.
- Adhere to safety protocols to protect oneself and colleagues from hazards.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure accurately.
- Effective communication skills to report issues or requirements to supervisors.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods in an open environment while wearing PPE.
- Strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- A dedicated individual with integrity and a passion for achieving exceptional results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a galvanizing role (minimum six months).
- Familiarity with hand tools and gauges, including impact wrenches and air grinders.
- Experience operating a bridge crane.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive interactions with team members.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions meticulously.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation, including forklift operation.
