Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach Isai. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting and financial duties, including preparing and maintaining financial records, analyzing and verifying financial transactions, and providing support to the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and complete financial records, including general ledger accounts, payroll records, and budget reports.
  • Analyze and verify financial transactions, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Provide support to the Accounting Manager, including compiling data, preparing summaries, and providing supporting data for valuations, audits, and reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of fiscal records, including operating and capital budgets.
  • Reconcile financial records in various accounting software and databases.
  • Perform complex calculations related to employee earnings and benefits.
  • Assist in the implementation of new or revised payroll accounting systems, procedures, and records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public finance, accounting, business administration, or closely related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible professional accounting or finance work, preferably in local government.
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
