Position Overview
At HealthEcareers - Client, the Lead Nursing Coordinator is a licensed professional Registered Nurse (RN) who operates at a Competent to Proficient level according to Benner's model of clinical practice. This role is pivotal in establishing a safe and effective patient care environment. Beyond the responsibilities of a clinical nurse, the Lead Nursing Coordinator serves as a mentor and coach to team members, fostering their professional development and enhancing their competencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promotes staff engagement by actively listening, valuing feedback, and making fair decisions that align with organizational objectives. Anticipates the needs of team members and offers support proactively.
  • Exemplifies effective leadership skills that contribute to team dynamics and collaboration. Guides staff in utilizing efficient communication to involve patients and families in their care plans.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource for unit staff, overseeing the onboarding of new employees and students. Effectively manages conflicts and concerns that arise within the team.

Patient Care Standards

  • Champions patient and family-centered care principles, ensuring compliance with established nursing practices. Mentors colleagues on specialty care for diverse populations.
  • Engages with patients and families to enhance care quality through regular interactions and feedback.
  • Drives initiatives to improve patient satisfaction scores by modeling accountability and service excellence.

Quality and Safety Initiatives

  • Adheres to nursing care standards, actively participating in quality improvement efforts and patient safety initiatives.
  • Coordinates nursing activities throughout shifts, considering patient needs and staff capabilities to ensure optimal care delivery.
  • Facilitates smooth patient transitions within the healthcare system, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of care.

Financial Management

  • Implements strategies to meet financial targets, mentoring staff on efficient documentation and resource utilization.
  • Participates in daily care coordination to enhance patient flow and address any operational concerns.
  • Provides insights into resource allocation and budgetary needs for the unit.

Professional Development

  • Encourages innovative practices to enhance patient care and operational efficiency, participating in unit projects and governance activities.
  • Supports the growth of nursing knowledge among staff, providing educational resources and opportunities for professional advancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 24 months of clinical nursing experience demonstrating progressive leadership capabilities.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current RN license in the state of practice or Compact State Licensure.
  • BLS certification from an accredited provider.
