Position Summary

The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of financial statements for their assigned portfolio. This role involves a thorough review of monthly financial reports and the general ledger, as well as the examination of daily transactions to ensure adherence to both internal and external policies. Additionally, the Senior Accountant collaborates with the Property Management teams to facilitate the development of Annual Budgets and Operating Expense (CAM) Reconciliations.

This role will focus on managing the financials for two premium office towers located in a prime area. It will require on-site support for the property management team in servicing this portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver internal and external reporting of financial results for assigned properties.
  • Collaborate with Property Management to conduct in-depth analyses of financial performance.
  • Assist in the budgeting process and review expense reconciliations with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports and analyses with limited guidance.
  • Serve as a customer service leader for internal and external stakeholders, addressing complex issues as needed.
  • Mentor team members and share expertise.
Essential Duties
  • Compile monthly financial statement packages for clients, including journal entries, fixed asset depreciation, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain frequent communication with the property management team and Property Manager(s).
  • Engage with clients on various issues, escalating complex matters to supervisors as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit Sales & Use Tax returns when applicable.
  • Oversee cash accounts for each property, ensuring timely payments for utilities, taxes, and owner distributions.
  • Review and process vendor invoices as needed.
  • Assist the Manager with transitioning project assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with SOC I requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant accounting/reporting experience.
  • Experience in the real estate industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with budget creation and CAM reconciliation is advantageous.
  • Strong quantitative analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate understanding of accounting principles and their application.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with Yardi and/or MRI is a plus.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Additional coursework is a plus.
