We are a newly established college preparatory school catering to the students of Jackson, MS.
Key Responsibilities

The primary duty of the School Transportation Specialist is to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of children, staff, and volunteers during transportation to and from the school, as well as during field trips.

Additionally, this role involves maintaining the cleanliness and proper functioning of the bus at all times, determining and adhering to safe and efficient routes, and keeping all required transportation records.


Essential Duties
  • Guarantee the safety and well-being of all individuals being transported.
  • Conduct a thorough written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel before transporting children.
  • Ensure the bus is adequately fueled at all times.
  • Operate the bus in compliance with road and safety regulations, reporting any traffic violations immediately.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure no child is left unattended on the bus, confirming all children have exited at the end of each route.
  • Maintain the bus in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to cleaning protocols.
  • Regularly check and inventory emergency and first aid supplies, notifying the Operations Director of any needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • In case of emergencies, evacuate children according to established procedures.
  • In the event of an accident, ensure medical emergency protocols are followed and complete required reports.
  • Assist with student recruitment, enrollment, and retention initiatives as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a current Commercial Driver's License Class B with a school bus endorsement. Previous experience as a School Bus Driver is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for this role.

Candidates must be able to pass a School Bus Driver's physical examination, including a drug test, and comply with background checks as mandated by state regulations.

A valid Mississippi driver's license is required.

Character Traits: Candidates should exemplify values such as zest, grit, self-control, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.

Ability to present a positive image of the organization to the community is crucial.

Applicants should demonstrate manual dexterity to operate the bus, conduct pre-trip inspections, and maintain cleanliness.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills are necessary.

Ability to learn and understand information from procedural manuals is important.

Must be able to follow traffic signs and perform responsibilities under pressure, especially in emergencies.

Experience working effectively as part of a team is desirable.

Respect for individuals from diverse backgrounds, along with flexibility, patience, and good personal hygiene, is essential. Candidates should be in good physical and mental health, capable of performing job responsibilities without interference.

This position requires sitting for extended periods, as well as physical activities such as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and climbing. A flexible schedule is necessary, and candidates must be able to travel and operate a vehicle independently while withstanding various weather conditions. Random drug testing may be conducted.
