About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Network Development Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our OpsTech Networks-Wireless Architecture team, you will play a critical role in defining and delivering next-generation wireless solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver technical solutions that improve the availability and reliability of our wireless network technologies.
  • Partner with peer teams to understand customer problems and find technological solutions using wired networking technologies.
  • Define and measure the availability of our existing and future network solutions to ensure they meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact on customers and enable them with scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized services.
  • Evaluate new technologies, lab test, proof of concept, run book definition, and pilot deployment.
  • Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life cycle management.
  • Define the strategy for future team processes, tools, and infrastructure, which improve how we maintain and manage them effectively, efficiently, and safely.
  • Participate in a global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation basis, with some night and weekend coverage required.
  • Effectively contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon.
  • Develop automation to resolve wireless network failures.
  • Investigate challenging problems to identify root causes and make recommendations for improving customer experience on Wi-Fi.
  • Create and update wireless network design to improve reliability.
  • Mitigate and solve network availability risks.
  • Partner with peer networking teams on overall network design to provide feedback and improvements from the wireless network perspective.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Implement metrics to measure wireless availability and identify performance risks.

Requirements
  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl experience.
  • 5+ years of practical relevant experience in Wi-Fi or other managed RF networks operations and engineering.
  • Deep understanding of IP network fundamentals and packet capture analysis.
  • Analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl experience.
  • Experience designing high-density AP and client deployments.
  • Expert knowledge of IP networking technologies and concepts, including routing and switching.
  • Expert in managing large-scale wireless deployments with high availability requirements.
