Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our team of process control specialists. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our clients' instrumentation systems.

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the work activities of instrumentation technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with project teams on maintenance and construction projects, contributing your expertise to optimize system design and implementation.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports documenting instrument calibration, maintenance procedures, and project progress.
  • Generate work orders for system maintenance and verify the completion of assigned tasks by technicians.
  • Respond promptly to operational difficulties at remote systems, dispatching field operator crews as needed to resolve issues effectively.
  • Maintain strong communication channels with internal stakeholders and external clients, providing timely updates and addressing inquiries.
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of instrumentation systems to meet operational demands, proactively identifying potential issues and implementing solutions.
  • Support project bidding processes by providing accurate quotations for instrumentation and control systems, demonstrating your in-depth understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to the design and development of process control strategies, leveraging your technical expertise to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Review and recommend process control strategies, ensuring alignment with project objectives and operational requirements.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, providing critical support to clients during unforeseen events.
  • Adjust system control parameters to accommodate major maintenance activities and construction projects, minimizing disruptions to operations.

Qualifications

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training in instrumentation technology. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field is required.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles through coursework or practical experience. Hold an ISA certification (levels I, II, or III).
  • Possess extensive experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, Radio Networks, and UPS systems.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficient in the operation, layout, and applications of computerized process control consoles and peripheral equipment.
  • Experienced with various types of instruments, including field and bench calibration techniques.
  • Deep understanding of distributed process control systems.
  • Familiar with fresh water or wastewater transmission, collection, pumping, and treatment processes, characteristics, and major equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrically controlled pumps and their operation.
  • Ability to interpret graphical process control display information (Human Machine Interface).

Abilities

  • Effectively organize, supervise, and direct the training of instrumentation technicians.
  • Utilize graphical process control display information to troubleshoot process errors, alarms, emergency conditions, or system malfunctions.
  • Demonstrate clear reasoning and effective decision-making abilities during abnormal situations or emergencies.
  • Proficient in operating personal computers.
  • Possess excellent communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external clients.
