I - Job Purpose and Summary:


As the HSE Manager, you will report directly to the Site General Manager. This role is pivotal in establishing and upholding the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and programs, ensuring compliance with all legislative, regulatory, divisional, and corporate requirements in an efficient manner.


In collaboration with the Site General Manager and local management, you will oversee, monitor, and audit the execution of HSE policies and procedures, guaranteeing that the necessary framework is established for effective HSE management systems.


As the main point of contact for all HSE-related information and data, you will foster positive relationships with relevant regulatory bodies, corporate groups, and divisional personnel.

This role emphasizes the importance of effective internal communication and will involve coordinating data collection, analysis, and reporting, along with setting clear site objectives and plans.


II - Key Accountabilities:

1.
HSE:
Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all company HSE policies and procedures, as well as complying with relevant state and federal regulations to achieve zero workplace incidents and injuries. Maintain awareness of regulations in other regions and share best practices through regular communication with peers.

Annual HSE Plan:

Lead the development of the site’s annual HSE plan, ensuring alignment with corporate HSE strategies and monitoring its implementation.

3.

Investigations:
Oversee and review all incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.

Site Visits & Networking:

Facilitate site visits by regulatory agencies and external parties, promoting the company’s interests and acting as the representative voice on HSE matters. Build positive relationships with local regulatory bodies and medical professionals.

Audits & Reporting:

  • Develop and implement a routine audit program to ensure compliance with HSE policies and assess the effectiveness of management systems, maintaining necessary certifications.
  • Manage the HSE database to ensure accurate monthly reporting.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of all regulatory HSE reports.
  • Regularly review compliance and responses related to external audits.

Business Continuity:

Support the Business Continuity Management process, acting as the custodian of the Risk Management program and executing the Business Continuity Plan.

7.

HSE Permits & Capex:
Ensure the availability of all necessary HSE permits and provide guidance during Capex project preparations.
8.

Training Program:

Develop and execute training programs to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements, while enhancing employee development.

Maintain training records for completeness.

Internal: All organizational levels, Site General Manager, Quality, Operations, Warehouse/Logistics, Maintenance, Engineering, HSE personnel.

External: Regulatory bodies, medical professionals, service providers, suppliers.
IV - Job Requirements (Required and Preferred):

Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Related Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of HSE management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in safety or environmental management.
  • Experience managing sustainability initiatives.

Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to promote accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective training.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Risk assessment and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Analytical thinking for root cause analysis.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations.

Language(s):
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
