Job Summary

The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Faculty Administration to join our team. This key position will play a vital role in supporting the academic mission of the university by providing strategic leadership and guidance on faculty-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes for faculty members, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with department chairs, school directors, and academic deans to provide guidance and support on faculty-related matters.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to faculty workload, recruitment, and retention.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the university and faculty employees, providing support and guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Manage the daily operations of administrative staff, ensuring efficient and effective support for faculty and academic units.
  • Represent the university on various committees and councils related to faculty recruitment and retention.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in personnel management or business management, preferably in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources and personnel administration business processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education, preferably with faculty personnel administration.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level databases, such as Banner or PeopleSoft.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and complete work with precision in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
