Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Program Director to join our team at Dartmouth College. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational aspects of our research center, ensuring the timely completion of project activities, and managing the budget and financial reports.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research management, grant writing, and project coordination, with excellent communication and leadership skills. They will be able to work independently and collaboratively with a team to achieve project goals and objectives.

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work a standard 40-hour week, with occasional flexibility to participate in center-related events and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire life cycle of research grants, including interpreting and communicating requirements, coordinating timelines, and preparing and submitting grant applications and reports.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including strategic planning, project formation, data collection, data analysis, scientific writing, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project leaders, faculty, and staff to develop and implement research initiatives, including grant writing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Provide oversight and support to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines, including Public Access laws and journal regulations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation using Microsoft SharePoint capabilities, including preparing presentations and reports.
  • Represent the center at regional and national conferences, meetings, and other events to promote the center's vision, goals, and objectives.
Requirements
  • Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eight plus years' experience in a medical or research environment, with five years' experience managing large-scale grants and/or contracts.
  • Administrative management experience and demonstrated ability to coordinate a complex research group.
  • Knowledge of grant submission, approval, and funding process.
  • Proficiency with computer software, including Adobe and Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office products, and EndNote.

  • Excellent prioritization, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and a proven work ethic.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to function while completing numerous, simultaneous, high-priority tasks.
