Job Summary:

As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice. Your primary responsibilities will include scheduling surgical appointments, communicating with patients regarding medication, lab results, and tissue diagnosis, maintaining medical supply inventory, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patient rooms for appointments, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, document patient history, and assist with disrobing as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams, obtain samples, and answer patient questions.
  • Clean rooms between patients, change table paper, and maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Set up rooms for procedures, explain procedures to patients, and obtain informed consent.
  • Log in and out pathology specimens and order lab work as needed.
  • Transport used instruments, clean and autoclave them, and maintain inventory of medical and surgical supplies.
  • Keep nursing stations organized, discard expired medications, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the medical assistant supervisor, practice manager, or physician.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
