Customer Service Cashier - Retail Support

Marukai Corp. operates as a leading retail chain specializing in a diverse range of Japanese and Hawaiian imported grocery and retail products. Our commitment is to provide customers with unique offerings that are not typically found in standard grocery stores. We take pride in our fresh, seasonal selections and a wide variety of food items.

We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our Customer Service team. We welcome applications from experienced Retail Associates, Cashiers, and Grocery Clerks.

Key Responsibilities for Customer Service Cashiers include:
  • Delivering exceptional customer service by warmly greeting customers and addressing their inquiries
  • Responding promptly and courteously to customer concerns and complaints
  • Utilizing suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer experience
  • Efficiently bagging merchandise in an organized manner
  • Assisting in the collection of shopping carts and baskets
  • Reporting any irregularities or issues to the Store Manager for resolution
  • Achieving sales targets set for the Customer Service Department through effective execution of company policies
  • Opening and closing cash registers as assigned
  • Counting cash and managing transactions accurately
  • Scanning purchased items and processing transactions swiftly
  • Verifying IDs for age-restricted purchases
  • Handling returns and credits in accordance with company policies
  • Conducting transactions in a professional and friendly manner
  • Working flexible shifts as determined by business needs
  • Organizing and maintaining the Customer Service display areas according to store standards
  • Ensuring the Customer Service Section is well-kept and compliant with company standards
  • Supporting promotional activities within the store to foster a positive work environment
  • Ensuring all Customer Service products are easily accessible for both employees and customers
Customer Service Focus:

• Ensuring a safe and sanitary workspace

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred

• Must be at least 18 years old to operate certain equipment

• Ability to use job-related equipment effectively

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance

Requirements:
  • Ability to provide friendly and prompt customer service
  • Competence in reading, writing, and performing basic math
  • Capability to follow instructions accurately
  • Effective communication skills with customers and management
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Familiarity with operating equipment such as pallet jacks and other machinery
  • Possession of a food handling license or willingness to obtain one
