Materials Failure Analyst Job Description

At Structural Integrity Associates, Inc., we are seeking a highly qualified Failure Analysis Materials Engineer to join our team in Austin, Texas. This role requires a B.S. degree in metallurgy or materials engineering, along with 15 years of experience in metallurgical failure analysis consulting services. You will work closely with our experienced engineering staff, providing materials support for consulting services, root cause analysis investigations, asset management, and condition assessments.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing client needs for failed or damaged metal components and developing proposals for condition assessment or failure analysis services. You will also manage metallurgical laboratory projects, coordinating work scopes, interacting with lab technicians, reviewing results, and preparing reports to provide findings and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Experience in metallurgical failure analysis consulting services
  • Project management skills and knowledge of destructive laboratory testing, metallography, and microscopy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Benefits and Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $140,000 - $170,000 per year, depending on experience.
