Materials Failure Analyst for Power Generation and Industrial Facilities

We are seeking a skilled Metallurgical Engineering Consultant to join our team at Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA). As a leading engineering consulting firm, SIA provides metallurgical and failure analysis services to various industries.
About the RoleThis laboratory-based position involves providing condition assessment or failure analysis services to clients in power generation and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will be based in SIA's Material Science Center in Austin, Texas.
- The ideal candidate should have a B.S. degree in metallurgy or materials engineering and 15 years of experience related to metallurgical failure analysis consulting services.
- A PE license or an identified path toward PE licensure is highly desired.
The general duties for this position include:
- Reviewing client needs related to failed or damaged metal components;
- Developing proposals for providing condition assessment or failure analysis services;
- Managing metallurgical laboratory projects through coordination of work scopes, interacting with lab technicians, reviewing and interpreting results, and preparing reports to provide findings and recommendations;
- Providing materials support to assist SI's experienced teams of engineering staff that provide consulting services to nuclear, fossil, and renewable energy clients;
- Managing root cause analysis investigations;
- Providing asset management and condition assessment services.
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and detail-oriented;
- Ability to multi-task on different projects in a sometimes fast-paced environment;
- Willingness to learn through experience and interaction with established industry experts.
