This role is essential in enhancing the public service operations of the University Libraries by effectively overseeing both student and staff personnel, engaging in reference desk duties, and providing customer service along with network and user support.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule student employees to ensure high-quality user assistance and customer service.
  2. Engage in the reference desk rotation, offering reference support to library patrons.
  3. Participate in service desk duties (circulation and reserves) and address public service challenges.
  4. Recruit, train, supervise, and assess Library Specialist(s) and/or staff.
  5. Collaborate with Library Systems (computing and networking) personnel to identify and resolve issues in public computing services; may also work with integrated library system (ILS) staff to address ILS challenges.
  6. Contribute as a member of the Libraries' Public Workstations Committee to formulate and review policies on public computing services.
  7. Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
The Library Services Coordinator manages access services functions of the Architecture, Design, and Art Library. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Position-Specific Duties:
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a full-time Library Supervisor.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule student assistants in collaboration with the Library Supervisor.
  • Manage interlibrary loan processes and coordinate paging requests between libraries.
  • Oversee course reserves for both students and faculty.
  • Maintain student accounts and collaborate with the Information and Access Services unit to manage delinquent accounts and lost or damaged materials.
  • Act as a liaison for access functions with various library branches.
  • Maintain customizations in the Alma integrated library system for the Architecture, Design, and Art Library.
  • Compile and distribute monthly and sampled statistics.
  • Maintain the Standard Operating Procedures manual in cooperation with other internal departments to ensure compliance with library policies.
  • Execute opening procedures for the Jenkins Library.
  • Troubleshoot and assist patrons with basic technology issues related to library workstations, scanners, and copiers.
  • Communicate facility issues to the appropriate management.
  • Initiate supply orders, work requests, and technology needs.
  • Participate in committees, task forces, and ad hoc work groups as part of the professional staff of the University Libraries.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Associates degree and three years of relevant experience.

Candidates should possess the ability to analyze and interpret procedures, policies, and practices through specific education and/or training programs in a technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or foundational knowledge in a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification in a technical specialty program lasting over 18 months and up to 3 years is typical for this role. A minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience is necessary.

Additional Information:
  • Customer service experience is essential, though not limited to library settings.
  • Extensive knowledge of art, architecture, and/or design is preferred.
  • Educational background in art, architecture, or design will be considered in lieu of experience.

  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs. repeatedly.
