As a key member of our library team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the academic and community engagement of our institution. We are seeking a dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting students and faculty in their pursuit of knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist patrons, including students, faculty, and staff, with library inquiries both in-person and via phone.
- Provide guidance on utilizing the online catalog and other library resources.
- Manage the circulation of library materials, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely notifications for overdue items.
- Conduct inspections of returned materials for damage and assess any applicable fines.
- Organize and shelve library resources according to established classification systems.
- Oversee the scheduling of computer usage and perform basic maintenance on audiovisual and library equipment.
- Support the training and supervision of student workers in library operations.
- Compile and report statistical data as required for library operations.
- Assist in inventory management of library assets under the guidance of a librarian.
- Perform clerical tasks as necessary to support library functions.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Preferred experience in customer service within a library setting.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively organize and manage information.
- Proficiency in computer usage and library technologies.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with students and faculty.
