Job Title: IT Systems Administrator-Hybrid

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our team at the State of Montana Department of Administration in the State Information Technology Services Division (SITSD). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for deploying and supporting local and wide area network services to various state agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and support local and wide area network services to state agencies
  • Install, layout, and maintain network components, including Cisco routers and switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and video systems
  • Interact with various departments to ensure compatibility of state equipment, cost effectiveness of computing expenditures, and optimum use of embedded infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot escalated technical problems, including identifying root causes to restore network functionality
  • Lead the team in network optimization and manage firewall configuration to ensure overall security compliance of systems
Requirements:
  • Associates degree in Networking Technology or a related field and 2 years' applicable experience
  • Bachelors degree in Networking Technology or a related field and 3 years' applicable experience
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Cisco CCNA certification desired
Competencies:
  • Interrelationship of data, voice, and video network systems
  • Data network operations, including switching, routing, voice, video, and wireless technologies
  • Organizational trouble ticketing systems
  • Networking protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, 802.11(x), BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QOS, 802.1x, SNMP, and circuit types
  • Rapidly troubleshoot and correct system/network problems in a timely fashion
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Work with highly-skilled and technical team members
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships in the public and private sector
  • Work independently with little supervision and as part of a team
  • Assume a lead-role on critical project segments

Travel is required up to 30% of the time, with 10% including overnight.
