Management and Leadership
- Assist in the organization and scheduling of staffing assignments.
- Conduct interviews and assess potential candidates for accounting roles.
- Ensure that any payroll discrepancies are resolved by the accounting team on a daily basis.
Team Oversight
- Provide training and supervision to accountants and accounting assistants.
- Ensure compliance with company and client policies and procedures.
- Review financial reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor cash flows, distributions, and requests for contributions.
- Verify bank reconciliations for precision and completeness, ensuring that outstanding items are addressed.
- Ensure that critical payments are processed accurately and promptly by team members.
- Oversee responses to client inquiries and review questions.
Monthly Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive financial packages, including general ledger reviews and bank reconciliations for assigned properties.
- Manage cash for assigned assets and coordinate necessary distributions or contribution requests.
- Ensure timely payment of approved invoices, mortgages, and real estate taxes.
- Review all management fee calculations for portfolios to ensure they are completed and processed.
- Supervise Inter-Project Account reimbursements to guarantee timely payments.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and questions.
Annual Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the annual 1099 process.
- Serve as a resource for Business Managers and Regional Managers during budget preparation, including assisting with budget templates and addressing inquiries.
- Ensure that approved annual budgets are accurately entered into accounting systems.
- Complete and submit audit requests on time for the assigned portfolio.
- Review Common Area Maintenance escalations, real estate tax escalations, and other recovery calculations for mixed-use properties within the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited institution is preferred, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of a degree, candidates with six or more years of related experience will be considered.
Certificates and Licenses
- None required; CPA certification is advantageous.
Communication Skills
- Proficient in writing, understanding, analyzing, and interpreting various business documents.
- Ability to effectively respond to complex inquiries or complaints, both verbally and in writing.
- Capable of presenting information to internal teams.
- A strong commitment to customer service is essential, whether for colleagues or clients.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
- Ability to analyze, plan, and allocate workloads to ensure team success in meeting objectives.
- Proficient in MS Office software (Excel) and real estate accounting software (Yardi).
