Role Summary: The Loan Assistant plays a crucial role in providing outstanding support to Commercial Relationship Managers across the bank. This includes gathering essential information for commercial loan applications, managing file maintenance requests, and ensuring compliance with Unity's Loan Policy.

The Loan Assistant collaborates effectively with various departments, including loan operations and compliance, to foster a productive and customer-focused work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Commercial Relationship Managers by scheduling meetings, addressing customer inquiries, and preparing correspondence, including communications related to delinquencies.
  • Work closely with relationship managers and support teams to gather all necessary information for loan presentations and to oversee the existing loan portfolio.
  • Relieve Commercial Relationship Managers of administrative duties, allowing them to concentrate on business development. Tasks may include processing loan disbursements and preparing loan documentation.
  • At the direction of the Commercial Relationship Manager, initiate and manage collateral and credit files, which may involve obtaining credit reports and appraisals.
  • Thoroughly review loan files to ensure completeness, communicate with relationship managers about missing documents, and create follow-up reminders as necessary.
  • Ensure all credit files are accurate and complete, identifying any deficiencies and working proactively with the relationship manager and loan processing teams to resolve issues.
  • Monitor expiring lines of credit and assist in timely renewals to prevent loans from becoming delinquent.
  • Conduct due diligence on customers by gathering industry data and researching relevant information from various sources.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the bank's loan products and policies to identify any exceptions and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and submit reports for loan committees and executive leadership in a timely manner.
