Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to work with youth and develop culturally relevant educational programs that reflect the Tribe's values, traditions, and culture.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement cultural and language education lessons for the Yaghanen After School program
- Provide supervision and direction for youth participating in the Tribe's youth programs, including summer camps and Native Youth Olympics
- Work collaboratively with Yaghanen staff to ensure cultural programming is appropriately reflected
- Direct and supervise youth during Yaghanen summer and winter programs, maintaining accurate attendance records
- Provide educational support during school hours in local school buildings
- Maintain accurate documentation in the data management system
- Transport items, including lifting and driving, for Yaghanen programs
- Model appropriate behavior for youth
- Ensure compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three (3) years of experience working with youth in an education setting
- A deep understanding and appreciation for the Kenaitze Dena'ina culture, history, and traditions or willingness to learn after hire
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
- Experience in public speaking
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 30 pounds, and be physically active. The Culture Instructor will also be required to travel to events, competitions, and camps.
