Elder Advocate Position

About the Position:
The Kenaitze Indian Tribe is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elder Advocate to join our team. As an Elder Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and independence of our elderly community members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist elders in obtaining their rights and achieving their objectives, including respite care, in-home chore services, and other necessary support.
- Complete intake assessments to identify the needs of elderly individuals and connect them with available resources.
- Provide ongoing case management and collaborate with community programs to ensure the delivery of essential services.
- Schedule regular services, including transportation, home visits, and respite care, as needed.
- Treat elders with respect and courtesy, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Tribe's policy.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Experience working with elders and vulnerable adults
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
- Valid Alaska State driver's license and current First Aid & CPR Certification
Working Conditions:
The Elder Advocate will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with elderly individuals, community members, and staff. The position requires the ability to lift 30 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods, and travel locally.
