Job Summary:

The Umoja Community Education Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Coordinator to support the routine functions of the HR department. This role will involve hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment efforts for all personnel, including writing and placing job ads, coordinating the hiring process, and conducting interviews.
  • Implementing HR initiatives aligned with the overall mission and vision of the foundation.
  • Staff induction process for new team members and overseeing training and development initiatives.
  • Administrating human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Performance appraisal system that drives high performance and regular employee engagement assessments.
  • Handling employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of human resource experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business advisory experience highly preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prioritizing tasks and delegating them when appropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Compensation:

This role comes with an estimated salary of $65,000 per year, plus benefits including Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision), Retirement Plan (401k, IRA), Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D), Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays), Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity), Training & Development, and Free Food & Snacks.
