Norfolk Southern is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor Trainee to join our team. As a Mechanical Supervisor Trainee, you will be responsible for leading world-class teams in the construction, repair, and maintenance of locomotives and rail cars.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead teams of skilled laborers in the efficient and effective completion of tasks
- Conduct inspections and repairs at the component level on locomotives and railcars
- Develop and implement process improvement efforts to enhance team performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives
- Provide coaching and guidance to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Leadership experience with the ability to handle conflict and foster a positive work environment
- Ability to promote a culture of safety awareness and accident prevention
- Ability to relocate and work flexible days/hours as determined by business needs
- Some knowledge and maintenance experience of engines and machinery
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new/proprietary programs
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills
