Position Overview

The Insurance Verification & Authorization role is essential for confirming all commercial insurance coverage and determining patient financial responsibilities. This position involves utilizing electronic systems and phone communications as necessary. Accurate and clear entry of all insurance details into the medical records system is crucial. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities and demonstrate flexibility in collaborating with various business functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review patient cases and insurance details to tailor communication effectively.
  • Handle emotionally sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Select appropriate internal software insurance codes based on patient insurance information.
  • Analyze patients' scanned requisition records and accurately input insurance coverage data.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic information during registration, identifying any missing details to prevent claim processing complications.
  • Communicate with the ordering physician's office or customer service to resolve issues related to missing information.
  • Ensure prompt processing of benefit information and seek management support when needed.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment and contribute to meetings by sharing insights and information.
  • Guarantee that all inpatient files are prepared for daily insurance benefit verifications and authorizations.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by being available for scheduled shifts and arriving punctually to meet call volume demands.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
Additional Duties

Perform other related tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience in insurance verification and authorization is necessary.
  • Proficiency in typing and operating a PC.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands for typing, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. Occasional standing and walking may be required. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role typically operates in a professional office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
