Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician Job Description

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician to join our team. As a key member of our Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, you will provide superior subspecialty clinical care to children in Central Virginia, offer outstanding training in infectious diseases, and contribute to generating new knowledge through clinical and basic science research projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultation for children with suspected infections, complex, chronic, or recurrent infections, or particularly difficult to diagnose or treat.
  • Offer phone consultation for physicians and other pediatric medical professionals who need assistance and advice with infectious disease issues pertinent to their patients.
  • Consult on epidemiologic issues in the healthcare setting and the community.
  • Develop and oversee the Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) program at VCUHS and CHoR, working alongside a dedicated Pediatrics Pharm D to develop appropriate services and protocols.
Requirements:
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
  • Experience with clinical care of patients.
  • Experience in an academic medical center.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a Master's of Public Health and additional experience/research in Hospital Epidemiology and AMS.
