About the Opportunity

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Analyst I to join our team. As a key member of our compliance department, you will play a critical role in managing our export control and research security program, as well as supporting our Conflict of Interest and Research Security programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with assessments of international activities related to research, teaching, travel, and shipping
  • Conduct complex analyses of export control scenarios and advise faculty, students, and administrators on appropriate policies and procedures
  • Prepare applications for export control licenses and devise control plans
  • Conduct requisite screening and review agreements that include export control and sanctions terms
  • Perform quality assurance monitoring to ensure related compliance
  • Support the University's Conflict of Interest (COI) program, including annual and ad hoc faculty COI reporting and disclosure
  • Develop and administer relevant compliance training and education to University stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 1 to 2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience in export control, research security, COI, or Research Integrity compliance is preferred

Competencies:

  • Self-starter with a high degree of discretion
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations with limited guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-oriented attitude and ability to present to large and small audiences
  • Ability to review and understand technical data for export classifications
  • Proficiency in operating specialized software, such as Visual Compliance and InfoEd
