Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Development, the Donor Research Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the donor prospect identification and review process for the Brown University Health Development office.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research and analysis, with the ability to identify and evaluate information on individual and related prospects. They will conduct detailed research using advanced online databases, internet resources, in-house files, and data libraries, and develop written reports compiling and synthesizing information.

The Donor Research Specialist will also provide analysis of financial and historical data to advise gift officers on potential donor inclination and capacity. They will work closely with colleagues to ensure minimal duplicate solicitation of major donors among all Brown University Health subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify individuals as prospects for portfolio management and future cultivation and solicitation
  • Develop and maintain ongoing communications to advance prospect information to appropriate development staff members
  • Strategize with gift officers and senior vice presidents to develop appropriate criteria for prospect identification and coordination, as well as tactics for cultivation and solicitation
  • Work with colleagues to ensure minimal duplicate solicitation of major donors among all Brown University Health subsidiaries
  • Participate in multi-partner and system-wide fundraising opportunities and efforts as they are developed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
  • Two years of related experience developing and maintaining prospect research databases
  • High level of effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of relational and online database management applications
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong computer and information management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare
  • Familiarity with data mining tool searches such as Wealth Engine, Blackbaud, PIN, Kintera, and Lexis-Nexis
