Brown University is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Analyst I to join its team responsible for managing export control and research security programs. The successful candidate will assist with assessments of international activities related to research, teaching, travel, and shipping, and conduct complex analyses of export control scenarios.
The Compliance Analyst I will advise faculty, students, and administrators regarding appropriate policies and procedures, prepare applications for export control licenses, and devise and implement control plans. Additionally, the role will support the University's Conflict of Interest (COI) program, assisting with annual and ad hoc faculty COI reporting and disclosure, and reviewing cases involving potential conflicts of interest.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of all applicable regulations related to export controls, sanctions, and research security, and be familiar with regulations and policies related to Research Integrity, including COI related regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with assessments of international activities related to research, teaching, travel, and shipping
- Conduct complex analyses of export control scenarios
- Advise faculty, students, and administrators regarding appropriate policies and procedures
- Prepare applications for export control licenses
- Devise and implement control plans
- Support the University's Conflict of Interest (COI) program
- Bachelor's degree and 1 to 2 years related experience
- Experience in export control, research security, COI, or Research Integrity compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present to large and small audiences
- Customer-oriented attitude
- Ability to review and understand technical data for export classifications
