Job Summary

This position will remain open until filled. As a Per Diem Front Desk Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for patients, performing a variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, check-in and check-out procedures, multi-specialty clinic appointment scheduling, insurance and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, auditing billing documents, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, and working closely as a resource for managers, physicians, nurses, staff, and other UCSDH departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and staff
  • Manage patient flow and coordinate appointments
  • Verify insurance and authorization information
  • Update patient demographics and maintain accurate records
  • Process billing documents and manage petty cash
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years of related experience in a large complex healthcare setting
  • Prior scheduling experience
  • Proven knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans
  • Strong problem-solving ability and excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including Outlook Email, Outlook Calendar, Teams, Word, and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • EPIC-Cadence, EMR, Template, and scheduling experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-specialty clinic
  • Authorization and registration experience
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
  • May be required to float to other sites to provide coverage as needed
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $68,883 - $68,883 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.99

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
