Position Overview:
Join our esteemed team at Johns Hopkins Medicine as a Colorectal Surgery Advanced Practice Provider. In this pivotal role, you will be integral in delivering comprehensive care to patients in both inpatient and occasional outpatient environments. Your collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons and healthcare professionals will ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed patient evaluations, including thorough medical history assessments and physical examinations.
  • Work alongside attending surgeons to formulate and execute evidence-based treatment strategies for patients undergoing colorectal and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
  • Perform daily inpatient rounds, provide post-operative care, and address the medical needs of patients in an acute care setting.
  • Document and interpret medical orders, maintain precise daily progress notes, and ensure accurate medical record-keeping.
  • Educate patients on surgical processes, post-operative care, and effective disease management techniques.
  • Facilitate discharge planning to ensure seamless transitions for patients moving from inpatient to outpatient care.
  • Conduct outpatient clinic visits to assess patient recovery and manage any complications related to surgical interventions.
  • Respond to patient inquiries, manage medication refills, and coordinate necessary follow-up care.
  • Provide clinical assistance to fellow healthcare team members, including residents and nursing staff.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies from an accredited institution.
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Active licensure in Maryland as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with eligibility for prescriptive authority.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in acute care, preferably in the field of colorectal and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Strong clinical assessment capabilities and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a patient-centered approach to care.
