Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Physician Assistant II to join our esteemed Specialty Cardiac Operating Room team. This role is essential for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in a variety of complex cardiac surgical procedures, including but not limited to open-heart surgeries and valve repairs.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, ensuring comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Collaborate with cardiac surgeons and healthcare professionals to develop tailored care plans.
  • Provide advanced clinical interventions, including wound care and suturing.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
  • Engage in surgical rounds and multidisciplinary meetings to enhance patient care coordination.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding surgical processes and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as required.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.
  • Active licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland.
  • National certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C).
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cardiac surgery or a related field.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in cardiac surgical care.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, dynamic environment.
  • Dedication to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a PRN position with variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and high-stress situations is expected.
