Position Overview

Role Summary:

Shive-Hattery Group, Inc. is seeking a Structural BIM Designer to join our team in the West Des Moines office. This position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the creation and management of structural models and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Autodesk REVIT to develop detailed models and drawings that accurately represent the structural framework of buildings and industrial facilities.
  • Generate construction documents throughout the design and documentation phases, collaborating closely with engineering personnel to ensure quality and precision.
  • Maintain and update master models for client campuses, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, engaging with structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and civil professionals.
  • Support the coordination of structural designs with other disciplines to achieve integrated project outcomes.
  • Participate in field assessments of existing structures and gather 3D laser scans for precise data collection.
  • Assist with specific structural design tasks under the mentorship of a licensed structural engineer.
  • Enhance your understanding of construction methodologies, structural systems, and drawing production to actively contribute to the design process.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in CAD Technology with experience in Autodesk REVIT and AutoCAD; a structural focus is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and develop new skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general computer skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines through effective planning and organization.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Capability to climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces as required.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as mandated by specific project sites.
  • Ability to pass necessary drug and background screenings for certain client locations.
