We are seeking a Full-Time Retail Sales Associate who is eager to explore their potential, develop professionally, and enjoy the benefits of being part of the SMART FOODSERVICE STORES LLC family.

Key Responsibilities

The Retail Sales Associate is essential in fostering an environment of outstanding customer service, supporting the SMART FOODSERVICE mission: Quality Food, Made Accessible. As a vital member of our team, you will take on various roles, including Cashier, Stock Associate, and Customer Service Representative, demonstrating a passion for service in every aspect of your work. You will be assigned to different departments based on customer and business needs.

  • Engage with customers on the sales floor in departments such as Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, and Dry Goods/Culinary Supplies.
  • Restock merchandise and rotate products across all departments.
  • Assist during special store events, including Vendor Fairs and inventory management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Front End Operations:

  • Ensure every customer enjoys an exceptional SMART FOODSERVICE experience by building and nurturing relationships.
  • Apply all skills learned in SMART FOODSERVICE training and exemplify these behaviors in the store.
  • Conduct sales and cash transactions accurately using the POS system, including scanning items and managing discrepancies.
  • Perform visual inspections of products during checkout to ensure quality.
  • Verify purchases against cart contents as customers exit the store.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures at the front end as assigned.

Sales Floor and Inventory Management:

  • Focus on driving sales and managing inventory effectively. Assist customers in locating products and informing them of available services.
  • Support inventory receipt and maintain organized and stocked shelves while ensuring product quality.
  • Label merchandise accurately, including applying weight tags and ensuring proper pricing.
  • Restock the sales floor daily, prioritizing older products for rotation.
  • Utilize equipment such as reach trucks and pallet jacks for product movement.
  • Employ computer programs as necessary for inventory management.
  • Maintain an accessible and visually appealing product display.
  • Assist with pricing changes and participate in inventory processes as needed.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for both staff and customers by adhering to safety protocols.
  • Report safety concerns to management and address them when possible.
  • Ensure cleanliness throughout the sales floor, front end, and restrooms.
  • Manage the cleanliness of the parking lot and store entrance.
  • Collect shopping carts from the parking area and ensure they are clean and functional.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required by Store Management.

Work Environment

  • Work is conducted in a retail setting open to the public, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • The noise level is typically moderate.
  • Work may require the use of ladders or elevated surfaces.
  • Temperature may vary throughout the store.

Qualifications

  • 6-12 months of retail cashier or stocking experience is required.
  • One year of retail sales or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform various physical activities as required by the role.
